I have a friend who’s always been insecure. She never liked her body. She never felt confident about anything about herself. She got a boyfriend and they dated for a long time, and she really cared about him. They recently had a bad break up and he started saying all of these mean things to her. “you’re fat” “i don’t know why i ever bothered dating you” “you’re a fucking cunt” . The list goes on and on. He especially targets her physical appearance. My friend is going into a depression. and she keeps reading these texts that put her to tears. I can’t stand to see her like this anymore. and here’s what I have to say.

You’re beautiful, all of you. You don’t need anyone to reassure you that you are. No one can bring you down unless you let them. I know it hurts. Especially when it comes from someone you care(d) about so much. All I know is that there is no one else like you. You are your own person and that to me is the most amazing thing in the world. If someone is choosing to say hurtful things to try to bring you down, then they aren’t comfortable with themselves, either. They want to bring everyone to their level. You’re perfect just the way you are, and you’re just what someone out there is looking for. I know you’re beautiful, don’t ever forget that. Flaws are what make people attractive. I find beauty in these so called imperfections, because they’re so unique to every person.

Don’t listen to anybody else. You’re fucking amazing the way you are.
